Review of this 2TB USB 3.0 hard drive

The installation of this new hard drive on a PC or Mac is totally Plug & Play, simply by connecting it the operating system will automatically recognize it. For Xbox One users, they just have to connect it and follow the instructions on the screen, also for Xbox 360 users they must go to the “Storage Devices” section of the “System Settings” menu to format the hard drive and start it. use.

Thanks to its compact size, we can easily take it anywhere, although we must bear in mind that being a disk with 2TB of capacity, it is thicker than other disks of the firm with lower capacity, such as the WD My Passport Edge.

Technical characteristics of the WD My Passport X

  • Capacity: 2 TB.
  • Interface: USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 (backward compatible).
  • Compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Compatible with consoles like Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Once we know the main characteristics of this hard drive, we will start with its external analysis.

External analysis

This WD My Passport X hard drive comes in a small box, on its front we find the main features of the model, such as that we can download more games for consoles thanks to its 2TB capacity. A very important detail that it indicates at the bottom is that it is compatible with Xbox One and also with any PC, both with Windows and Mac operating systems, although we have tested it under Linux and it also works perfectly.

On the right side of the box we find the three steps necessary to start using this WD My Passport X hard drive quickly with our Xbox One console. On the back of the box it indicates that this hard drive will allow us to increase the memory capacity internal of our console quickly, with 2TB of storage we will not have the need to delete any game from our disk.

Inside the box we find both the WD My Passport X hard drive and the USB 3.0 cable that is also compatible with USB 2.0 equipment to provide the greatest possible compatibility. The connector of this disk is USB 3.0 + USB 2.0 like most of the manufacturer’s external hard drives. Along with the disk and the cable, we have a sheet where it will tell us how we should connect this disk to the console itself, and it is that simply by connecting the cable we can start using the capacity of this disk.

The design of this WD My Passport X hard drive is really elegant, with a black finish and very compact, it will be ideal to transport it anywhere without any problem.

The only negative about this hard drive is that it is too thick, more than other discs from even this same manufacturer, the main reason for this thickness is because it incorporates a capacity of 2TB and therefore has several plates inside that make it increase in size. size. The dimensions of this hard disk are 81.5 mm wide, 110 mm long and 20.9 mm thick, if it were of a smaller capacity it would also have less thickness, this happens with all manufacturers.

So far we have come with our external analysis of this hard drive, below we will show you the performance tests carried out with this equipment.

Test laboratory

We have tested this 2TB hard drive with USB 3.0 interface on our main desktop computer that incorporates USB 3.0 to achieve the highest possible speed. Below you have the detailed analysis of the CrystalDisk Info where you can see the disk capacity (2TB), the current temperature (23ºC) and also the SMART report where you can see that we do not have any errors regarding the health of this hard disk is good. We must also look at the rotation speed of this hard drive, specifically this model is 5,200 RPM with a buffer size of 8MB.

To check the maximum performance of this hard drive, we have used the CrystalDisk Mark tool to measure the performance of both sequential and random read and write:

As you can see, the read speed of this 2TB external hard drive goes up to 117MB / s, an excellent performance for this type of device. Likewise, the writing speed is around 106MB / s, an exceptional performance that will allow us to intensively use this hard drive for both PC games and consoles as well as for massive storage on our computers.

Below you can see the performance with the HD Tune program that allows us to know the speed as we move through the capacity of the hard disk, both in reading speed and writing speed:

We have also checked the random reading and random writing on this external hard drive, we must bear in mind that it is a hard and external drive connected by USB 3.0, so the results are not comparable to for example an SSD. Below you can see the values achieved:

So far we have come with our analysis of this 2TB WD My Passport X hard drive, below you can see the strengths, weaknesses and finally our conclusions.

  • Hard drive capacity by having 2TB of storage.

External analysis

Starting with the box that contains the Western Digital WD TV Live Hub, say that on the front face of it you can find the first image of the multimedia player so that we get an idea of what the player looks like. This player stands out for having a very small size, which will make it very easy to place it anywhere in the home where you have a television. In the box we can also find reference to the standards that it uses, as well as some technical specifications that the player has.

Once we have opened the box, the first thing we come across is the product documentation, that is, the detailed user manual in different languages, as well as a brief installation diagram and a sheet indicating what to do in in the event that the equipment suffers a breakdown.

Leaving the documentation aside, what we later find is the Western Digital WD TV Live Hub sealed and in a kind of semi-rigid plastic shell, something to keep in mind since this will prevent the equipment from suffering any damage while it is being transported or in the store. We break the seal and remove the plastic structure and we can see that the player is protected on its front by an adhesive in order to protect the part where the infrared receiver of the remote is located.

At the back is where all the player’s connectors are grouped and concentrated. The connectors on the rear, from left to right, are:

  • Player power socket
  • Digital Out Optical Connector
  • HDMI
  • USB 2.0
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Composite Video-Audio Connectors
  • Video Connectors

The Western Digital WD TV Live Hub player’s design is “very slim” and aesthetically has a very formal appearance, in part due to the black color. As we indicated previously, the size of the player is very small and its thickness is also very remarkable, with just 2 centimeters scarce.

Going to the rest of the contents of the box, say that it includes a remote control with its corresponding batteries and a power cable long enough to bridge the distances that may exist between the player and the plug. We would be talking about practically 2 meters in length.

With reference to the remote control, indicate that although its shape may appear strange, it is a very comfortable feeling to have it in your hand. This, together with the medium-sized keys, make the use of the control very pleasant for the user.

After an external analysis of the player and its accessories, which has left a good taste in our mouths, we will continue to check the handling of the player.

Interface and performance analysis

To try to get you the impressions of the player interface, we are going to first use some photographs and later we will use a video to take a tour of the entire interface and we will see a firmware update, so you can see how long it really takes to do it .

The Western Digital WD TV Live Hub media player has been tested with Western Digital Livewire PLCs, which we have tested previously and were quite satisfied with the operation and performance.

As soon as you start the media player (the first time it usually takes a little longer than normal) a fairly large and clean desktop appears. At the bottom we can find a bar to scroll, thanks to which we can access the different options and services that the multimedia player offers us.

It has a simple operation and anyone would be able to use it without having a great computer knowledge, since even the network, if DHCP is enabled, is plug and play, and it is not necessary to do any additional configuration.

So that you can see the interface a little more in depth, we leave you with a video in which you can also see the real time it takes to update the device to a new firmware version.

It is a very compact and versatile multimedia player, as well as having a very simple operation with a clear and intuitive interface. The only negative point that we can put this player is that the keyboard input is very “rough” and it is necessary to use a virtual keyboard implemented in the player software. Had we put the letters on the keys of the controller, we think it would have been nice to have allowed text input using the player controller.

For the rest, it is a good multimedia player of which we recommend the purchase if you are thinking of acquiring one or of replacing the one you have.

Analysis of this 10,000mAh capacity Power Bank

This new TP-Link PB50 battery incorporates two USB 2.0 outputs, one of these USB outputs allows you to provide a current voltage of 5V and a current intensity of 2A, so we can charge tablets without any problem, and we can also charge mobile devices such as smartphones at a higher speed. The other USB output allows to provide a current voltage of 5V and a current intensity of 1A, ideal for smartphones and other devices that do not need fast charging.

This battery allows you to charge devices with both USB 2.0 ports simultaneously, ideal for charging multiple devices at the same time. This new battery incorporates a button on the right side that will allow us to know the battery charge at any moment, thanks to its four green LEDs that we find in its front part.

Other characteristics of this TP-Link PB50 battery is that it incorporates «smart charging«, This means that the battery will always provide the best possible charge to the device, so that it is fast and safe, adapting the current intensity that it is supplied. This battery also provides protection against short circuits, overvoltage, overcharging, overdischarging and also overheating.

External analysis

This TP-Link PB50 high capacity battery comes in a white box highlighting the black battery. On the front of the box we can see the main characteristic of this battery, its 10,000mAh capacity, in addition, we also find a small logo at the bottom that tells us that it performs “smart charging” and that it protects against overvoltages.

At the back of the box we find more technical characteristics of this model, such as that we have two USB output ports with 2A intensity and 1A intensity, to charge both mobile devices and tablets. In addition, thanks to smart charging we can recharge these devices as quickly as possible.

On the right side of the box we find the contents of the package, and also that it has a capacity of 10,000mAh. On the left side of the case we find the dimensions of this battery that are 139.7mm long, 78.9mm wide and 19.3mm thick. In addition, we also have the voltage and intensity data for both the output and input, and this battery can be recharged with 5V / 2A to make it as fast as possible.

Inside the box we find the TP-Link PB50 battery perfectly protected by a translucent plastic, the contents of the box are as follows:

  • TP-Link PB50 Power Bank 10,000mAh
  • Travel bag
  • Micro USB to USB cable, perfect for charging mobile devices
  • Quick instruction guide
  • User guide in multiple languages

Below you can see the contents of the box, including the travel bag, ideal for storing the battery. We miss that TP-Link has not incorporated along with the content, a current transformer with 2A output, since we will have to buy one separately or use a transformer from a smartphone or tablet that we have at home. It is also true that no manufacturer incorporates a current transformer with its Power Banks.

On the front of this TP-Link PB50 battery we find the four small green status LEDs, these LEDs will indicate both the remaining charge and the recharge status when we connect it to the electric light. At the back we do not find any LEDs or buttons, since it is on the right side where we have the power button for the LEDs telling us the status of the charge.

Finally, at the bottom of this battery is where we find the main USB ports and micro USB port for charging and recharging.

The USB 2.0 port on the left side is the port that provides a current intensity of 2A, ideal for recharging mobile devices quickly. In the central part we find a micro USB input port, with this port we will recharge the external battery itself, both with 1A intensity and with 2A (fast charge). Finally, the USB 2.0 port on the right side is the port that provides a current of 1A, for recharging at standard speed of mobile phones.

Front battery TP-Link PB50 with USB ports

So far we have come with our external analysis of this TP-Link PB50 battery.

Test laboratory

In this test lab we are going to tell you how long it took us to recharge the battery and also our experience charging devices.

TP-Link PB50 recharge time

TP-Link has officially announced that we can recharge this battery in 6 hours and 8 minutes with a current intensity of 2A. We have charged this TP-Link PB50 battery with the official TP-Link charger for your Neffos C5 Max smartphone, this charger provides a voltage of 5V and an output intensity of 2A. We have verified that this figure that the manufacturer gives us is totally real, although to be honest, it took us a little less to load from 0% to 100%, it took us about 5 hours and 45 minutes, a figure that not bad at all since we have a large capacity.

Mobile device charging time with the TP-Link PB50

We have verified that this battery charges our Neffos C5 Max mobile phone in the same time as the company’s official charger, so it is true that it is capable of providing up to 2A of intensity with “smart charging”, to charge our smartphone as quickly possible.

The general operation of this external battery has been excellent, both in recharging and charging mobile devices. We have verified that the battery does not heat up at all, if we touch the black part we will notice that it is just as cold as if we were not charging it, and that after more than 5 hours of recharging. The only thing we can notice is that the silver part with the connectors does heat up a bit, but nothing worrisome.

  • High capacity 10,000mAh battery.
  • Two USB outputs, one with 1A and the other with 2A for fast charging.
  • Micro USB input with up to 2A to quickly recharge the battery
  • The contents of the package include a travel case and a USB to micro USB cable.
  • Surge protection technology.

Weak points

  • The size is somewhat large compared to other batteries like the TP-Link PB10400, but the design is totally different from this model.
  • Price: This model is worth about 45 euros (it has an LG battery with lithium polymer), the TP-Link PB10400 is around 24 euros and they have similar specifications (it has a LG battery with lithium-ion).

Last conclusions

This new TP-Link PB50 battery has performed excellently in the tests, thanks to its high battery capacity with 10,000mAh we can charge our smartphone several times. A very important feature is that it has a USB port with a 2A output, ideal for quickly charging smartphones and charging tablets. In high-capacity batteries, the data on the time to recharge the battery is essential, this battery charges from 0% to 100% in less than 6 hours, and that is thanks to the fact that it allows a current input of 2A.

The contents of the package include a travel case and a USB to micro USB cable, other manufacturers do not incorporate these accessories so it is appreciated that TP-Link does incorporate it. Thanks to all the technologies that it incorporates against overvoltages, we can use it safely. Another very important detail is that this battery does not get hot when recharging or while charging mobile devices, it stays cold as if we were not using it, something that is appreciated.

The only drawbacks that we can put to this battery are two, on the one hand the size, and that is that if we compare it with the TP-Link PB10400 battery we will realize that it is much larger, however, if we compare it with batteries like Aukey or Anker, the size is very similar.

Another negative aspect is its price, and that is that this model costs around 45 euros while the TP-Link PB10400 with similar features costs half. This point is probably due to the fact that the TP-Link PB10400 has LG lithium ion battery, and this new TP-Link PB50 model uses LG lithium polymer batteries. What is the difference between lithium polymer and lithium ion? Basically, lithium polymer offers greater safety, since the internal architecture is protected with a gel and is not flammable, in addition, they have a greater durability because they allow higher charge / discharge cycles, have higher efficiency, lower self-discharge speed, higher heat resistance and are more expensive than lithium ion.

If we take into account the technical characteristics (especially lithium polymer battery), the speed of recharging and charging mobile devices, and their price, RedesZone’s assessment is as follows:

We hope you liked the analysis, if you have any questions you can put a comment and we will respond delightedly.

We analyze the performance of this SATA 3 hard drive

Although they are disks recommended for use in NAS devices or servers, they are equally valid for use in desktops, both for primary and secondary storage. Before we dive right into the external analysis, we are going to review the most interesting features of this hard drive.

WD Red 6TB Hard Drive Technical Specifications

  • Capacity: 6 TB
  • Interface: SATA with up to 6 Gb / s
  • Format: 3.5 inch
  • Turning speed of the plates (in RPM): 5,400
  • Cache size 64 MB
  • Transfer speed: up to 175MB / s
  • Weight: 750 grams
  • Warranty: 3 years

Additionally, we leave you a table with the specifications detailed by the manufacturer of each of the existing sizes:

External analysis

Like all hard drives, this one came with its corresponding antistatic bag. After doing without this, we leave you the first image of the album:

WD Red Hard Drive Enclosure Top

On the front we find the information related to the model in question, as well as the NASware version, in this case 3.0. It is the firmware that the hard drives of this family have. It could also be said that it is responsible for the performance being so good (we will check this later in our tests). This time we are testing a 6 TB unit and its price is around 244 euros. However, one of the advantages of this family is that if you are thinking of acquiring one, you have several sizes with lower prices that may be more suited to your needs, both storage and economic.

It must be said that the WD Reds are the little brother of the Pro family, which have slightly better performance in both reading and writing.

Front and WD Red Hard Drive Information

At the back we find in its lower part the SATA connector that allows speeds of up to 6 Gb / s, the power supply and the pins to configure the role of the disk making use of jumpers. It is surprising because this is configured through the BIOS, so we do not know the reason to include these master-slave configuration pins yet, it is possible that in some type of hardware RAID they are needed.

WD Red Hard Drive Configuration Pins and Connectors

On the sides of the disk you can find the three holes for installation in desktop PCs or NAS devices. It is compatible with the screw anchoring system and through the plastic elements that the bays have, something quite widespread and that allows installation or removal in a much simpler and faster way.

WD Red Hard Drive Side Attachments

Such has been the demand for this family of hard drives that long ago the company was forced to develop a solution with a size of 2.5 ″. In this way, in addition to covering the larger market for both NAS and desktop computers, with this option they also add to that of portable computers.

WD Red front detail

As in other devices, the lower part is occupied by the electronics that control everything related to accessing the disk, searching for information or modifying it.

Detail of the WD Red hard drive hardware board

Test of performance

To check the performance of this hard drive we are going to use the CrystalDiskMark version 5 software. We will use a computer with Windows 10 64-bit. The unit we are analyzing will be connected as a secondary hard disk on which we will launch the read and write tests with a size of 4 GB.

Given the specifications offered by the manufacturer, we will have to obtain speeds that are close to 175 MB / s at some point in the tests. If this is the case, it could be said that the performance of the disk is very good.

Here is a screenshot of the results obtained after executing CrystalDiskMark:

To check the performance of the disc, we have also used the HD Tune program, as well as other interesting aspects such as the operating temperature or the access time.

Comparison with other hard drives

The results obtained previously are fine, but it is necessary to get into the situation and check where the hard drive at hand is. For them we are going to help ourselves with the data that our HardZone colleagues have obtained throughout different tests.

In the following comparative table you can see the difference:

WD Red comparison table

As can be seen, the WD Red is above the Seagate Barracuda and the WD Black, although slightly below the PRO version. In the end, the difference is not only made by the unit itself, but by the NASware firmware that we have already mentioned.

WD Red Hard Drive Conclusions

  • performance
  • Does not get too hot, ideal for NAS
  • Variety of capacities and prices

Weak points

  • It is louder than other records we have.

Final score

In the end, we could say that the results obtained have been as expected. In the performance test carried out, the speed obtained is adjusted to that offered by the manufacturer in the specifications, which means that it has an extra performance compared to other discs from other manufacturers that belong to the same segment. The NASware firmware in its version 3.0 shows that the management of the unit is excellent and in view of the results obtained, it could be said that it is a recommended purchase.

The problem that many users will find is its price, but WD have launched a wide variety of sizes, so it allows the user to also play with the price, being able to acquire the 2-4 TB versions for a price lower than 160 euros.

Another point to keep in mind is that compared to other drives, this hard drive is quite noisy, especially if it is performing access tasks.

Finally and to put an end to this analysis, the Redeszone team has decided to give the WD Red hard drive a final rating of 9/10.

valuation_9We hope you liked the analysis, if you have any questions you can put a comment and we will respond as soon as possible.

Review of this modern digital frame with WiFi and Ethernet

We present a complete analysis of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II, a new device that the manufacturer NETGEAR has launched for our homes, and it is not related to networks, since we are facing a digital frame with a great image quality, which connects wirelessly to the Wi-Fi network of our home (2.4GHz or 5GHz with 802.11a / b / g / n / ac standards), although we can also connect it via cable since it has an Ethernet port. For a first communication with the digital frame, we can use Bluetooth 4.1 for easy and fast pairing of the equipment. This digital frame has a great image quality, and can be controlled by gestures and also from an application for Android and iOS smartphones.

NETGEAR Meural Canvas II combines a modern design with cutting edge technology, it is designed to be placed anywhere, since we can select between two different sizes (the MC321 model has 21.5 inches and the MC327 model has 27 inches) and a total of four different frame colors, to perfectly adapt it to the location where we place it. This digital frame will allow us to show our own photos, we can load them, cut them and we can even incorporate pictures from museums and galleries around the world, since it incorporates a practically infinite digital library with more than 30,000 works.

This equipment allows us to easily manage it by moving your hand in front of the frame, or using the Meural application for Android and iOS, which you can download directly from the official Android and Apple stores:

Another important feature of this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is that it integrates perfectly with Amazon Alexa, so we can give orders directly with voice commands. The screen of this NETGEAR Meural incorporates a technology called TrueArt, where the colors look really vivid and with maximum clarity, the resolution of the screen is Full HD 1080p with an anti-glare finish and the backlight is adjustable, specifically it allows us 300cd / m2 on the MC327 and up to 250cd / m2 on the MC321. It has a total of 8GB of internal capacity, 2GB of RAM and a 1.8GHz Quad-Core processor. The equipment itself is capable of detecting whether we have hung the frame vertically or horizontally, so it will adjust automatically. In fact, if the frame is horizontal and we try to upload a photo that is vertical, it will notify us of this to select another photo or put it directly, even if it is not seen completely. It also incorporates an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust based on the light in the room. Finally, we have a slot for SD cards and a USB port to load different photographs in the frame.

If we decide to register in the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II Marketplace we will be able to access quite interesting resources to make the most of this digital frame, for example, we will be able to have access to millions of works of art, we will be able to see new additions as a priority, access to support 24 / 7, we will have a total of 20GB of Cloud storage for our photos (the free version, without being members, is 2GB of Cloud storage).

External analysis

This NETGEAR Meural Canvas II comes in a fairly large black box, we must bear in mind that we have a 21.5-inch frame, in case you bought the 27-inch version, the box will be even bigger. Inside the box we will find the perfectly protected frame itself, and all the accessories in a small white cardboard box, where we can see not only the current transformer but also the rest of the accessories.

The content of this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II box is as follows:

  • NETGEAR Meural Canvas II
  • Current transformer
  • Power connectors for different countries, EU included
  • Screws and dowels to locate this frame on the wall.
  • Level to position the frame perfectly.
  • The current transformer is 12V and 2.5A
  • Documentation and brochure with the NETGEAR Meural app

In the following photo gallery you can see in detail all the accessories incorporated in this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II:

The NETGEAR Meural Canvas II frame has a really elegant design, with top quality materials, we must remember that this frame is available in two sizes, 21.5 inches and 27 inches, in addition to having a total of four colors of wood available different

NETGEAR Meural Canvas II front in detail

On one of the sides we will find the power button of the frame itself, we will also see a micro USB port, the RESET button of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II itself, and a slot for SD cards. Both the micro USB port and the SD slot will allow us to easily load multimedia content on the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II.

SD card slot area, micro USB port and RESET button

On the back of this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is where we will have the Ethernet port to connect it via cable to the local home network, however, we must remember that it incorporates Wi-Fi connectivity, so it is not necessary that we connect it via cable. We will also have the power connector of the equipment itself, and a sticker with the data such as serial number and MAC address of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II. Finally, we can see the electrical input characteristics, and all the certifications that the equipment has passed.

The NETGEAR Meural Canvas II can be managed through the NETGEAR Meural app, but also through gestures. Some menus that we can use are those of Wi-Fi, to connect wirelessly to the local network, making use of the WPS to connect without having to enter a WPA password. It supports both the 2.4GHz band and the 5GHz band.

The best thing about this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is the image quality, the photos you have seen of the menus do not do justice to the quality of the panel. Even if it only has Full HD 1080p resolution, we can assure that the quality of the image and the colors it shows is truly spectacular, more than any high-end monitor for computers with 2K or 4K resolutions. You have to see it live to really appreciate the image quality.

Once we have seen in detail what this NETGEAR Meural Canvas II digital frame looks like, we are going to show you the Meural application for Android and iOS.

Meural application for Android and iOS

The free Meural application for Android and iOS is the center of all the management of this framework, since we must register said framework in order to use it. This app can be downloaded from the official Android and iOS stores:

The first thing it will ask us when opening the application is to register with a name and surname, as well as our email address, and the corresponding credentials that we want to have in the Cloud service. In this app we can see different works of art, and even channels to choose the best photographs and works that are currently available in Meural.

In the options that we have at the bottom, we can choose between taking photos or choosing a photo from the gallery to upload directly to the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II. Before we can interact with the equipment, we must register it by scanning the QR code that will show us the first time we connect it to the light.

The application will ask us for permission to access the camera, in case we scan the QR code or enter the serial number, and it tells us that the Canvas is being used by another person, it will mean that this serial number is already associated with another account, therefore, we will have to contact NETGEAR because there is some kind of problem.

Once we have successfully registered it, they will send us an automatic email with the information of the registered product, the serial number, and also the registration date of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II.

In the different management menus, we can control the Canvas remotely with our mobile device, we can program the automatic on and off, change the name, configure the orientation (it is automatic by default), configure the time zone, language, and even freeze an image so that it always shows the same image. We can also configure the duration of the image, the view price, and even the inactivity time. Of course, we can adjust the light sensor, if we want it to respond to the gestures we make on the Canvas, if we want it to reproduce the images randomly, and, finally, it will show us the data from the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II itself (synchronization , Local IP, free space, version of the software of the Canvas, of the app, and even the serial number that they call it product key).

So far we have come up with our review of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II, a truly impressive digital picture frame with excellent image quality. Once we have seen in detail what we can do with it, we will see a list of strengths, weaknesses and final conclusions.

  • Picture quality
  • Connectivity: dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet port
  • Management by gestures and with the Meural app for Android and iOS smartphones
  • Access to thousands of digital works through Meural
  • Free 2GB cloud storage, although it has internal storage and USB connectivity and SD slot

Weak points

  • We need a power cord, and although it is not plastic, it will always be seen if we place it on the wall.
  • Price: the 21.5-inch version costs 650 euros, and the 27-inch version costs 850 euros.

Last conclusions

NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is a very interesting device to decorate your home, designed by the network equipment manufacturer NETGEAR, and specifically aimed at an audience that wants to have a very large photo frame with state-of-the-art technology inside. What has caught our attention the most is, without a doubt, the image quality of the photographs. For many photos and videos that we show you, they do not do justice to how they really look.

The connectivity of this device is complete, since it has selectable dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2 and also an Ethernet port to connect it to the Internet. Communication with the Meural cloud is very fast, and all the actions that we send you from our device are carried out almost instantly, except for uploading photos, which usually takes around a minute, although this will depend on the size of the photo.

NETGEAR has incorporated into the box everything necessary for wall mounting, both vertically and horizontally. In addition, we have an additional support that is sold separately, which will allow us to change the orientation easily, it costs around 45 euros. However, if we are not going to move it in orientation, with everything that the box incorporates is more than enough to put it on the wall.

The only handicap that we see in the installation of the NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is that we will need to power it, and, therefore, the power cable will always be seen if we put it on the wall and we have nothing around to “cover” it. We must also bear in mind that this team is worth about 650 euros in its 21.5-inch version, and goes up to 850 euros in its 27-inch version, a fairly high price, although we must say that the finish is totally premium.

We hope you liked the analysis, if you have any questions you can put a comment and we will respond delightedly.

Analysis of this solar panel to power cameras

The Reolink Solar Panel will allow us connect the IP camera within a maximum distance of 4 meters, since it incorporates a long cable to place the solar panel in the best possible location. However, in case we need more length, Reolink sells a cable with an additional 4.5 meters, therefore, we will have a maximum distance of 8.5 meters to locate the IP camera.

The Reolink Solar Panel is prepared for its location outdoors, therefore, it withstands inclement weather such as dust and water without problems, however, it is advisable to always keep the solar panel itself clean of dirt to maximize its performance. The maximum power that this solar panel is capable of providing is 2.8W, with a maximum current voltage of 6V, and an intensity of 480mA.

Once we know what this Reolink Solar Panel is for and its main characteristics, let’s see what this solar panel from the manufacturer is like

External analysis

The Reolink Solar Panel solar panel comes in a small box, since the solar panel itself is quite small, enough to power the manufacturer’s IP cameras without problems.

On the front we find that this Reolink Solar Panel will allow us the IP cameras to be always working, in fact, this accessory is resistant to water and dust without any problem, since it is designed for its location outdoors, such as for example facades, trees etc. This solar panel is compatible with the popular Reolink Argus 2, but it is also compatible with other IP cameras from the manufacturer such as Reolink Go.

On the right side of the box we find some of the security solutions from the manufacturer Reolink, and that is that we have at our disposal several models of indoor and outdoor IP cameras, PoE and Wi-Fi cameras, and even totally wireless cameras like the Reolink Go with internal battery and 4G LTE connectivity. On the left side of the box we find a reference to the application for mobile devices Reolink App, available for Android and iOS completely free of charge.

In the back of the Reolink Solar Panel box is where we find more characteristics of the solar panel itself, such as that its installation is very quick and easy, and we have in the box everything necessary to place it in its final position in a few minutes .

Inside the Reolink solar panel box is where we find all the necessary documentation, and a protector for the solar panel itself. The contents of the box of this Reolink Solar Panel is as follows:

  • Reolink Solar Panel
  • Quick installation guide and recommendations to locate it in the best possible position
  • Information brochure with the rest of the manufacturer’s equipment
  • Sticker with 24-hour video surveillance notice.
  • Guide to make the holes and then screw the support of the Reolink Solar Panel
  • Reolink Solar Panel Support
  • Installation KIT with plugs and screws to locate the Reolink Solar Panel support

In the following gallery you can see in detail the content of the box:

In the quick installation guide we have recommendations on where to locate this solar panel from the manufacturer. It will also indicate the ideal angle for the sun to hit the solar panel for as long as possible, and therefore, provide power for as long as possible and at maximum power. We also found how to connect this Reolink Solar Panel to an outdoor IP camera, and we must make sure that water cannot get into the micro USB port of the IP camera itself.

The support of this Reolink Solar Panel is really small, and very easy to install by following the quick installation guide that the manufacturer provides us.

This Reolink Solar Panel is a very simple accessory since it does not have any possible configuration, we simply have to keep the solar panel very clean to obtain the maximum performance from it. The Reolink Solar Panel is quite thin and small, ideal to be placed on a facade without clashing with the environment too much.

At the back is where we find the micro USB cable with 4m in length, so that we do not have problems of where to place this solar panel with respect to the location of the IP camera. However, we must remember that we can separately purchase an additional 4.5m long cable. In this rear area is where we must place the support, and we also find a sticker with the maximum power that this solar panel will provide us.

So far we have come with our external analysis of the Reolink Solar Panel solar panel, we will use this device with the Reolink Go IP camera of which you already have a complete analysis in RedesZone.

Last conclusions

This Reolink Solar Panel is a very useful accessory when we want to power an outdoor IP camera, since although the camera has a great autonomy due to its internal battery and energy saving policies, we will always have to be aware of its recharge sooner or later. . With this Reolink Solar Panel we can extend the battery life much longer, and we can even forget about ever having to recharge it, as long as the sunlight received by this solar panel is sufficient.

During the two weeks of testing this solar panel, we have found that it needs direct sunlight to shine on it, otherwise it will not recharge the battery or power the IP camera. If, for example, in the place where you live there are many days when it is cloudy, forget about being able to extend the autonomy of the IP camera too much, this is ideal for places with many hours of sun.

The price of this accessory is about 35 euros, it is not too expensive and it is a complement to the internal battery that Reolink’s outdoor IP cameras incorporate, but we must take into account if in the location where we are going to place it it will have too much sun.

We recommend access the dedicated Reolink page in RedesZone, where you will find all the analysis of this manufacturer.

Once we know the main features of the Huawei K3765, let’s get to know it from the outside.

External analysis

The Huawei K3765 3G modem is presented in a white box with the letters of the model and the Vodafone operator in red. Vodafone has put a lot of interest in the design as it has very elegant lines combining the colors white and red. The only information that is provided to us on the front of the box is the model of the 3G modem, the Huawei K3765.

If we turn the box, we will find the requirements to use this Huawei K3765, for example that it needs 256MB of RAM to work and at least 50MB of hard disk, requirements that are easy to meet for any computer. At the bottom we find the compatibility with the 2G and 3G networks of this modem as we have put in the introduction.

Once we open the box, we find the Huawei K3765 3G modem completely white. We proceed to remove all the elements from the box and find the following:

  • Huawei K3765 3G modem
  • Quick Start Guide
  • Safety manual (interference, possible problems with pacemakers, health etc.)

The 3G modem incorporates a tray where we must place the SIM card that comes with the Vodafone ADSL self-installing package or any other operator SIM card. Once we remove the tray and insert the SIM card, we proceed to insert it again. The size of the SIM card that we must put is the standard size.

On the side of the Huawei K3765 modem we see the microSD card slot with a capacity of up to 32GB, perfect to always have our files at hand.

In the following photo gallery you can see in detail the Huawei K3765 3G modem.

So far we have arrived with the external analysis, now we are going to connect the modem to the PC and test its operation.

Software review: Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite

This Huawei K3765 3G modem incorporates the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software, the old version of the software developed by Vodafone for its 3G modems.

The installation of drivers and software has been carried out correctly, it seemed strange to us since 2 years ago when we tested this same module, we were unable to make it work in Windows operating systems.

The software that comes with the modem is as follows. On the main screen we can see the request for connection to the Vodafone Spain mobile network.

On the main screen we find the current speed of traffic and also, when there is traffic, we have the volume of traffic that we have consumed.

This software allows us to use the mobile broadband network as a secondary connection, and to only connect if the LAN network is not available.

On this screen we can see the volume of data and the time we have been connected.

We can also configure multiple USB modems with this software.

With this modem, we can also send SMS messages through the computer with this software.

This software does not have integrated management of the Wi-Fi network, and we will have to set it manually, something very difficult for people who do not know much about computing.

It also allows us to manage VPN connections, but “manually”, like Wi-Fi networks.

We have not explained this software too much because Vodafone has replaced this software and has released a completely new one, the Vodafone Mobile Broadband and which is also 100% compatible with this 3G modem.

You can download the new version of this software from here (official link from Vodafone): Vodafone Mobile Broadband v.10.3.401 download. At Huawei K3772 3G modem review We have shown you the interface of this software, much more refined, cleaner and with integrated management of wireless networks.

Test laboratory

The tests carried out with the 3G modem have been carried out inside a house, where we have tested all the 3G modems / routers so far.

The speed we have obtained in these tests has been the following:

The speed in the tests has been very good. We have also tested a speed test with a Huawei K3772 and the result has been the following:

And finally, we have tested a TP-LINK M5350 and the maximum download speed that we have obtained has been the following:

MicroSD tests

This device has a slot to insert microSD cards up to 32GB. We have introduced a 16GB capacity Samsung class 10 microSD card, and the data we have obtained is as follows:

  • Read speed: 6.2MB / s.
  • Write speed: 3.9MB / s.

Although it may seem like poor performance, getting this performance on a computer that is not designed for this is a pretty good result. We can transfer files without waiting too long.

  • Small size 3G modem.
  • It has a microSD card slot and the read / write speed is remarkable.
  • Performance of the 3G connection very similar to that of the Huawei K3772, the latter being newer.
  • Stable operation of the Internet connection.
  • Vodafone Mobile Connect drivers and software work fine (we recommend updating to the new version).
  • The operating temperature is medium-high if we do a continuous data traffic.

Weak points

  • We may have problems with the Vodafone drivers and software. We recommend using the latest Vodafone software, the Vodafone Mobile Broadband, with which you will not have any problems.

Last conclusions

This 3G modem has performed very well in the performance tests, however, we may have problems with the installation of drivers and software on computers with Windows 7 64 bits, we recommend using the latest version of Vodafone Mobile Broadband which also incorporates new features.

We have been satisfied with the read / write speed of the microSD card, without a doubt it is a value-added feature to carry our files wherever we go. It could also help us to always carry the latest version of Vodafone Mobile Broadband with us and install it on any computer quickly and easily.

This Huawei K3765, being a modem that has been on the market for years, you will find that it is 100% compatible with Linux operating systems (we have tested Ubuntu and it works perfectly). Therefore, it is highly recommended if you use this operating system.

Kaiboer K200 media player review

Technical characteristics:

External analysis

The Kaiboer comes in a large cardboard box, well closed and with a lot of protection inside.

Once we have taken what is really important from within, we observe the appearance of the Kaiboer, everything that it can reproduce and all the “extras” such as Torrent client, DLNA or FTP server to transfer files over the local network to your internal hard drive and not have to Take out the hard disk or connect the player by USB.

Once everything is taken out of the box and placed on the table, the result is the following, you can see all the cables (power, HDMI, USB cable to pass the films, and an optical digital cable).

Once the kaiboer is unwrapped, here you can appreciate this wonder.

It seems that it weighs a lot, but on the contrary, it weighs hardly anything.

You can see the part where the hard disk is removed to pass data or replace it with a higher capacity one (later we will see this part in more detail).

We can see the USB where we can connect a pendrive or an external hard drive to the Kaiboer, we can reproduce the content of said pendrive or external hard drive, and we can copy the files to the pendrive or external hard drive.

We can also connect a USB Wifi to have wireless internet and to be able to pass the movies on a local network (recommended to use a class N router and a class N adapter as well since otherwise the streaming will be slow, and the copying of the movies over the local network the same).

We see the back of the Kaiboer where all the connections are, from left to right, USB to connect to the PC, HDMI, Ethernet card to connect it to the internet and then the connections in case we have a Dolby Digital and finally the power supply for our player.

You can see in better detail all the connections it has. The vents (it has a fan cooling the chipset, but you can hardly hear it, just a slight hum). Here we see the front with the power button and the remote control receiver. We get into the hard drive issue. To remove the hard disk, we take the cover out without fear, the disk will come out on its own.

We can see that the hard drive is a Seagate 7200.12, this means that it is from the latest batch of hard drives from this well-known manufacturer, and as we have said before, it has 1TB of capacity.

When we remove the hard drive we can see inside the compartment:

As you can see, on the lower right side are the connections that go to the hard drive (data and power).

We put the hard disk back into place … we put it in the same way we took it out, and we close the hatch by dragging the hard disk into position (don’t worry, it won’t break).

As a curiosity, the Kaiboer remote control lights up when you press a key, without a doubt very useful for at night (when people watch movies).

dodocool Fast Wireless Charger – RedesZone

A very important feature of this dodocool Fast Wireless Charger is that it has two wireless charging modes:

  • Fast charging: it allows charging mobile devices with a maximum power of 16.2W, this operating mode is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +, S7 and also S7 Edge.
  • Normal charge: allows mobile devices that are not compatible with fast wireless charging, a clear example is the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and other devices, these devices will be charged with a maximum power of 10W so it will not be “fast” .

This equipment is responsible for managing overvoltages to avoid electrical problems, it also has a green circular crown that indicates that the equipment is in stand-by since there is no smartphone charging, if it is blue it indicates that a smartphone is charging.

The operation of this equipment is really easy, we just have to connect the official charger of our smartphone to the micro USB port of the device, and the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger will start working. A very important detail is that this equipment does not come with a current transformer, we must use Samsung’s own to make it work with fast charging. In the manufacturer’s official website You have a list of smartphone models compatible with this wireless charger.

Technical Characteristics of the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger

  • Current input of 5V and 2A or 9V and 1.8 A.
  • Micro USB interface
  • Allows fast wireless charging via the Qi standard
  • If the smartphone does not support fast charging, it will charge at normal speed.

In the following video you can see in detail what this new team is like and also the contents of the box:

Once we know its main characteristics, we go with the external analysis.

External analysis

The dodocool Fast Wireless Charger comes in a small, white box. On the front of the box we find the main feature of the device, it is a fast wireless charger and compatible with top-of-the-range Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge +, S7 and S7 Edge. It also gives us an estimate of the loading speed, and according to dodocool we can have our smartphone loaded in about two hours.

On the back of the box we find more technical specifications, such as the voltage and current intensity that the device needs to work. It needs 5V and 2A or 9V and 1.8A to be able to quickly charge our device. The charging efficiency is greater than 72% and the smartphone needs to be less than 1 cm from the equipment to charge it, that is, we have to “place it” on the charging base.

Inside the box we find the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger perfectly protected by a protective plastic, and also all its accessories. The contents of the box are as follows:

  • dodocool Fast Wireless Charger
  • USB to micro USB cable
  • Quick install guide

One detail that we really liked about the manufacturer dodocool is that it has incorporated a long USB cable, in this way, we can easily locate the wireless charging base anywhere.

This dodocool Fast Wireless Charger device is glossy black, on the front we find the manufacturer’s logo and the base where we should place our smartphone. On the right and left side of this device we do not find any button or connector, the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger has a really simple design since we will only have the micro USB port on the back.

At the back of the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger is where we find the micro USB port, it is through this port where we must connect it to the electrical current to provide wireless charging to the different devices. At the bottom of the wireless charger we also find the electrical input specifications of the equipment, remember that there is no current transformer so we must use the one from the smartphone itself or one compatible with fast charging.

So far we have arrived with our external analysis of the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger, now we go to the test laboratory where we will check how this device behaves.

Test laboratory

The time has come to check if this dodocool Fast Wireless Charger works correctly, and is capable of charging our terminal “quickly”. We have connected the wireless charger directly with the official Samsung current transformer and we have also used the Samsung cable, that is, we have connected the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger as if it were the smartphone itself.

The mobile terminal with which we have tested this fast charge is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the latest top-of-the-range terminal from Samsung and which supports fast charging thanks to the Qi standard.

In the following video you can see in detail the operation of the dodocool Fast Wireless Charger with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge:

Regarding the charging speed, dodocool’s forecasts have not been met since we have verified that from a 20% battery to 100% it has taken us 2 hours and 15 minutes. We must bear in mind that through the cable it takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes, the battery of this terminal is 3,600mAh, and while charging it was permanently connected to Wi-Fi and using it normally. If you are only going to charge the smartphone without using Wi-Fi and without using it, it will surely charge below in less than 2 hours.

We also want to tell you that we have had a problem with the official Samsung charger, and that is that although it has charged correctly for an hour, then it no longer charged the smartphone, although it did continue to power the wireless charger since it had the green LED ( stand-by). We have changed the current transformer (using the Samsung USB cable) and it has worked again without problems, so we ruled out failure with the dodocool.

  • Allows fast wireless charging for smartphones compatible with the Qi standard.
  • It allows normal wireless charging for smartphones with Qi but that are not compatible with wireless fast charging, in this way, we can also take advantage of it without problems.
  • It has a very small size.
  • The operation is very simple, we simply connect the manufacturer’s charger to this equipment via micro USB, and then we place the mobile on the base (the base is non-slip).
  • It has a green and blue LED crown, indicating whether it is in stand-by or charging respectively.
  • Price: We can find this equipment for less than 20 euros in stores like Amazon, while the official Samsung is worth twice as much.

Weak points

  • It does not incorporate a current transformer, but we can use the one that comes with the smartphone.

Last conclusions

This fast wireless charger dodocool Fast Wireless Charger has performed excellently in all the tests we have carried out, as you have seen in the videos. The main feature, which is fast charging, is only compatible with certain smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, although there are also other compatible models and brands. In the event that our smartphone is not compatible with fast charging, you can always use charging at “normal” speed.

The design of the equipment is very successful, with a very elegant black color so that it does not attract too much attention, since it is still a charger. The green and blue status LEDs are a plus, in this way, we can quickly know if it is charging our smartphone or not.

The only negative point that we have found about this equipment is that it does not come with a current transformer, although it is not too much of a problem since we can use our own Samsung smartphone (if it does not give you the same problem as us). It allows two types of chargers, those that provide 5V and 2A, or those that have fast charging (9V and 1.8A), in this way, we can power both the device and charge the smartphone.

Regarding the price, it is a very favorable point that we find it in stores like Amazon for less than € 20, this price is half of what the official Samsung charger costs.

Taking into account the characteristics, the loading speed it provides and its price, RedesZone’s assessment is as follows:

We hope you liked the analysis, if you have any questions you can put a comment and we will respond delightedly.
