Pepephone ADSL configuration with Huawei routers

Next we are going to explain how to configure Huawei routers with Pepephone’s ADSL. In this help tutorial we have focused on two routers that are currently provisioned with other carriers.

The routers tested with this configuration have been the Huawei HG532c from Jazztel, a router with a USB port that can be used as a backup through a 3G USB adapter in case we have a problem with the ADSL line.

We will also teach you how to configure the router Huawei HG556a that Vodafone ADSL currently sells, this router incorporates VoIP so we will teach you how to configure it with a voice over IP operator like OVH to be able to have calls through Pepephone’s ADSL.

Huawei HG532C by Jazztel

The first thing we must do is enter via http://192.168.1.1 and put user: admin and password: admin. Now we will see the main screen of the router:

To configure it with Pepephone we must go to BASIC / WAN and we will have to enter the Pepephone data.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user. If we do not put any DNS server in the next capture, it will take the DNS directly from the network.

In the following screenshot you can see the exact configuration that we have set with the operator and that it works perfectly:

huawei_hg532c_2

Once we have entered the data, the router will synchronize us and we will have Internet. Here you can see our timing:

huawei_hg532c_3

We recommend you go through the Huawei ADSLZone forum where you will find other manuals about this router.

Pepephone ADSL configuration with Conceptronic routers

In this tutorial we will help you configure any Conceptronic router with the Pepephone ADSL service.

The router that we have tested with this configuration has been the Conceptronic C54APRA2 +, a router to take into account if Pepephone finally activates Annex M since it is one of the best behaving in upload speed. Thanks to its chipset, we can synchronize at the maximum speed that DSLAM allows us and obtain the maximum performance in upload speed.

The first thing we have to do to configure it is to open the browser and enter via http://192.168.1.1 and we enter the username and password «admin / admin» we proceed to go to the WAN tab of the configuration and we put the Pepephone data as and as you can see in the image:

At the bottom we have the option to put UBR, which is what we must put in order for it to work correctly. We select “Always ON” so that it is always connected to the ADSL line and does not disconnect since this option was for the old non-flat ADSL rates.

conceptronic_c54apra2_3

Once this is done, at the bottom we click on Apply, then we go to SYSTEM and TOOLS and click on “SAVE AND REBOOT” and the router will restart. Once it has restarted, if we go to “STATUS” and to “ADSL” we will see that the router synchronizes correctly:

conceptronic_c54apra2_1

And we will already have Internet in our equipment with Pepephone ADSL. We recommend the reading this manual where we teach you to configure the wireless part of the router as well as open ports.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user.

Pepephone ADSL configuration with Cisco Linksys routers

In this tutorial we will teach you how to correctly configure any Cisco Linksys router with the Pepephone ADSL operator.

The routers tested with this configuration have been the Linksys X1000, Linksys X3000 Y Linksys X3500. The web interface for the configuration is exactly the same in all of them, so you can take advantage of this manual to configure it with other Linksys equipment such as the old WAG series.

The first thing we have to do is enter the router’s web configuration through http://192.168.1.1, the user is “admin” and the password is “admin”. Then we go to the configuration tab and put the Pepephone ADSL data as you see in the screenshot. The password we have set is “pepephone”. We have decided that the modulation will be detected by the router and set automatically. We can also choose ADSL2 + or ADSL2 + M mode (Annex M activated).

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user. We can also manually select other DNS servers such as Google’s.

Once this is done, we will go to the bottom of this screen and click on “Save changes”, now we will have to wait about 45 seconds until it returns to the configuration screen.

Now if we go to “Status” and to the “Router” tab we will find the IP address data provided by the operator:

linksys_x3000_pepephone_2

If we go to the “DSL connection” tab we will see the router synchronization. In the capture you can see the synchronization that is 19Mbps download and 1Mbps upload. In the analysis of the connection that you can see in the RedesZone Pepephone page you will have real speed tests.

So far we have arrived with the configuration manual for Cisco Linksys routers.

Configure ADSL Pepephone on Sagem router

In this tutorial we will help you configure the Sagem routers with the Pepephone ADSL operator.

The router that we have configured with Pepephone ADSL is the Sagem FAST1704 Orange, a router with basic features (Wi-Fi G, Fast-Ethernet, without USB) but that gives an outstanding result in the speed tests with Pepephone ADSL.

Note: A Jota user has tested this tutorial with the Orange Sagem Fast 2604 router and it also works correctly with Pepephone ADSL and the same configuration is done here.

Once we have connected the router to the computer and to the ADSL line, the first thing we have to do is enter with http://192.168.1.1, if the router is recently reset (with factory settings) it will not ask us for a user or key to enter the setup menu.

On the main screen we will see the initial configuration, which will not help us because we have to put @pepephone:

In the menu on the left we go to Advanced Configuration and WAN. If there is any default configuration, click on Delete to create a new one, or on edit, both systems are valid.

sagem_fast1704_2

The first screen of the configuration wizard asks us to enter the VCI and VPI that we all know, we put it as it is in this image. Then we click on Next.

sagem_fast1704_3

Now we select PPPoE with LLC encapsulation as we have in this screenshot:

sagem_fast1704_4

Then we will introduce the username and password of the Pepephone PPPoE connection, as we have on this screen. The options at the bottom are left as they are in the capture (verified that it works).

sagem_fast1704_5

The following options must be enabled (NAT, Firewall, and WAN). Then we click on next.

sagem_fast1704_6

Now we will get the typical summary screen of all the configured parameters:

sagem_fast1704_7

And finally we will see that a new line has been created for us in the WAN configuration table:

sagem_fast1704_2

In the upper right we can see the synchronization of our ADSL line. With all this, we will already have Internet with Pepephone ADSL.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user.

We recommend you visit our router configuration manual where we explain how to configure the wireless part, open ports etc.

Pepephone ADSL configuration with Comtrend routers

Next, we are going to explain how to configure Comtrend routers with Pepephone ADSL, a fixed broadband service that stands out for the absence of a telephone line and for the attractive price (23 euros per month).

In the next help tutorial we will focus on the Comtrend AR5381u router that Jazztel provisioned. This manual is also tested with the new Comtrend AR-5387un router currently provisioned by Jazztel. The steps detailed below can help you configure other equipment such as the Telefónica Comtrend CT5365 router, although the configuration menus are different.

Setting

The first thing we have to do to configure this router is to enter http://192.168.1.1 and enter the username and password “admin / admin”. Once inside, we must remove the Jazztel settings. We go to «Advanced Setup», «Layer2 Interface» and finally to «ATM Interface», once here we delete the data from Jazztel, the screen should look like this:

Now click on Add and proceed to enter the Pepephone information. The exact configuration is the one shown in the screenshot and it has not worked perfectly for us. Once we have entered the data, click on «Apply / SAVE».

comtrend_ar5381u_2

Now on the next screen we will see the information that we have entered:

comtrend_ar5381u_3

Once we have done this, we go to “WAN Service” at the top left of the menu. The following screen will appear and we will select the configuration that we have previously entered. Once selected, click on «Next» to go to the next configuration menu.

comtrend_ar5381u_4

Here we select the first option, PPPoE and put the name of the service (PepephoneADSL), be careful not to put spaces or strange symbols since it will give an error. If by chance we are going to use a neutral router, we must select «Bridging» and in the neutral router with LAN IP 192.168.2.1 select PPPoE and enter the Pepephone username and password (pepephone @ pepephone / pepephone).

comtrend_ar5381u_5

On the next screen we must enter the Pepephone username and password as well as select certain options. We select “Enable NAT” for the router to act as NAT, we will also activate the Firewall. The following screenshot shows the exact configuration that we have tested and that will work without problems. When we have configured everything, click on «Next» to go to the next configuration screen.

comtrend_ar5381u_6

Now we leave the router menu as it is on the next screen. We press Next.

comtrend_ar5381u_7

Now we have to enter the DNS servers, we can enter those provided by Pepephone or any other, we have chosen Google’s DNS servers.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that by default are assigned from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further from the user. If we don’t introduce any DNS server, the router itself will take them directly from the network.

Once entered, click on Next.

comtrend_ar5381u_8

And we get to the last screen where they will put us a summary of what we have previously configured:

comtrend_ar5381u_9

When we click on Apply / Save, it will take us to the initial screen where we clicked “Add” but now we have the Pepephone ADSL data.

comtrend_ar5381u_10

Now if we go to Device Info, we will see that the router synchronizes correctly and that we have Internet:

comtrend_ar5381u_11

And here we have come with the ADSL configuration with Comtrend routersThe interface of all the routers of this manufacturer is the same, so knowing how to configure it in one, we can configure anyone.

If you need help to configure other parameters we recommend visit the ADSLZone manuals.
