Pepephone ADSL: Router Configuration

Below you have all the necessary information to configure your equipment and also screenshots of different models of routers to properly configure the Internet connection. In each specific section of the brand, we will detail the routers that we have tested with Pepephone ADSL and their Internet configuration to get the service up and running quickly. The first thing we have to know are the Pepephone ADSL configuration parameters, this information can be found on the operator’s own website.

You also have it in the following image to facilitate the configuration on a single page:

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. In this way, if we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used. We also have the option to indicate the DNS servers that we want, such as Google’s (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

Now we are going to show you the interfaces of different routers where we will put this data to have an Internet connection (all routers have been tested by us so we can ensure that the settings work correctly).

Since most manufacturers have the same web interface to configure their equipment, we will put a list of manufacturers with their configuration menus. If, for example, you have an AVM FRITZ! Router, just read that section since the menus are the same in all (or very similar).

List of routers tested with Pepephone ADSL (in alphabetical order):

Below you have the configuration manuals ordered by manufacturers.

Update June 2017

Due to the migration that Pepephone ADSL has suffered from the Vodafone network to the MásMóvil network, all the previous manuals do not serve to configure the new routers. In the Pepephone official website we have some manuals for non-carrier routers. On this RedesZone page you will find the manuals for each and every one of the routers that we have tested with the new Pepephone ADSL line under the MasMóvil network.

All the previous manuals do not work for the new network, in fact, some are not even compatible since they are not compatible with IEEE 802.1Q, so we will indicate in the headline if the manual is updated.

Hire Pepephone ADSL – Sign up for the ADSL service with Pepephone

In this manual we are going to give you all the keys to sign up for the Pepephone ADSL service through its online platform.

The first thing we must do is access the web address of from the operator. On the web we will see all the details about the service, without small letters, Pepephone style. At the top of the page we find different sections such as the FAQ for questions and answers as well as a page where we will have the connection data for our ADSL router.

We must remember that in Pepephone ADSL we have the option of not requesting a router from the operator itself and using our own equipment, therefore we must configure it properly so that it works.

At the bottom of the web we find the costs of new line registration and portability. Normally in portability with other operators we do not have to pay anything, this is because the operator itself assumes this cost and then they charge us little by little in the invoices and in some cases with an associated permanence clause. However, in Pepephone we have to pay this expense, and then the operator offers us the minimum price and without permanence.

high_service_2

In the “Principles” tab we will see the policy that Pepephone follows both in ADSL and mobile.

high_service_3

In the questions and answers faq we find the answers to the main questions about the service. It is advisable to read the questions and answers to know what we are hiring.

high_service_4

We also have answers on ADSL setup:

high_service_5

The most important part is usually the invoice and the charges that Pepephone makes us, in this section of the «Questions» we will have all the details:

high_service_6
And finally, we find four basic technical data that we should know about the ADSL technology that Pepephone offers.

high_service_7
In the tab «Configure your router» we have a diagram of the connection of the router to the telephone socket and also the main parameters of the router. In RedesZone we will make configuration manuals with different routers that have different web interfaces for configuration, such as Cisco-Linksys, Comtrend, Huawei, Zyxel or FRITZ routers! AVM among others.

high_service_8
This is the table of general parameters that we must configure in our router. On the page of Pepephone in RedesZone You will find detailed manuals to configure it in different models of routers.

pepephone_configuration

To contract Pepephone ADSL the first thing we have to check is if we have ADSL coverage. In case the tool tells us that we do not have coverage, we can always call Pepephone to check if we do not really have coverage or that the tool is out of date.

The first thing we must do is fill in the following information:

high_service_10

If we want new line registration, we should not worry about giving our phone number now, at the end of the wizard we will have the option of «Portability» or «new line registration».

The reason why you have to put the number first is because if our current number has coverage (address), with a new line we will also have it.

Now we have to enter our address information as well as answer the anti-robot question.

high_service_11
After entering the data, it tells us that we have coverage and also what happens if we PORTABILITY to Pepephone ADSL (that we will lose the landline number).

high_service_12
Then it will tell us if we are already customers or if otherwise we have to register in My Pepephone, we do what corresponds.

This is the trickiest part because we have to decide whether to do «Portability» and lose phone number, or if we want to have a new line (we will have two ADSL lines at home).

high_service_13
We have decided to make a new line for ADSL. The total price for selecting this option is € 75 + VAT, as we were told on the main Pepephone ADSL website.

high_service_14

We click on continue and the final price will appear. Later we click on «Finish».

high_service_15
The last screen that we will see will be this with all our data and the ADSL address.

high_service_16

Then we will be informed via email of everything that happens with our ADSL line, all the problems that may arise (rejection of the operator if we do portability), ADSL data to configure the router etc.

high_service_17

And we could only wait for a Movistar technician to call to install the ADSL line (or do the portability) and enjoy our ADSL line with Pepephone.

We recommend that you read all the articles that we are going to publish in the Pepephone page in RedesZone.

NuCom NU-GAN5 Router Firmware Update Manual

Pepephone has launched a Firmware update for your router NuCom NU-GAN5.

In RedesZone you can read our NuCom NU-GAN5 router in-depth review and also our user configuration manual, where you can see from how the wireless network is configured correctly to a complete tutorial to open ports on the Pepephone router.

Changes in the new firmware

One of the improvements that this firmware incorporates is very important since fixes an issue that affects multiple users. With the current firmware, although the synchronization of the router with the DSLAM is fast, the equipment takes more than five minutes to obtain the public IP address, that is, takes too long to authenticate against Vodafone RADIUS through the PPPoE protocol. This update solves this problem, which mainly affects when the synchronization is lost due to a cut, since it takes too long to regain the Internet connection.

Another important change is that now DNS are automatically taken from the network, Vodafone core DNS has not been set as it was with previous firmware. Now browsing will be faster because there will be less latency between users and DNS servers.

In this manual we are going to teach you how to update firmware to latest version official Pepephone has launched for its NuCom NU-GAN5 router.

Download the latest firmware version

You can download the firmware from our Dropbox account (uploaded by us): Download Latest NuCom NU-GAN5 Firmware.

Pepephone ADSL configuration with Huawei routers

Next we are going to explain how to configure Huawei routers with Pepephone’s ADSL. In this help tutorial we have focused on two routers that are currently provisioned with other carriers.

The routers tested with this configuration have been the Huawei HG532c from Jazztel, a router with a USB port that can be used as a backup through a 3G USB adapter in case we have a problem with the ADSL line.

We will also teach you how to configure the router Huawei HG556a that Vodafone ADSL currently sells, this router incorporates VoIP so we will teach you how to configure it with a voice over IP operator like OVH to be able to have calls through Pepephone’s ADSL.

Huawei HG532C by Jazztel

The first thing we must do is enter via http://192.168.1.1 and put user: admin and password: admin. Now we will see the main screen of the router:

To configure it with Pepephone we must go to BASIC / WAN and we will have to enter the Pepephone data.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user. If we do not put any DNS server in the next capture, it will take the DNS directly from the network.

In the following screenshot you can see the exact configuration that we have set with the operator and that it works perfectly:

huawei_hg532c_2

Once we have entered the data, the router will synchronize us and we will have Internet. Here you can see our timing:

We recommend you go through the Huawei ADSLZone forum where you will find other manuals about this router.

Pepephone ADSL configuration with Conceptronic routers

In this tutorial we will help you configure any Conceptronic router with the Pepephone ADSL service.

The router that we have tested with this configuration has been the Conceptronic C54APRA2 +, a router to take into account if Pepephone finally activates Annex M since it is one of the best behaving in upload speed. Thanks to its chipset, we can synchronize at the maximum speed that DSLAM allows us and obtain the maximum performance in upload speed.

The first thing we have to do to configure it is to open the browser and enter via http://192.168.1.1 and we enter the username and password «admin / admin» we proceed to go to the WAN tab of the configuration and we put the Pepephone data as and as you can see in the image:

At the bottom we have the option to put UBR, which is what we must put in order for it to work correctly. We select “Always ON” so that it is always connected to the ADSL line and does not disconnect since this option was for the old non-flat ADSL rates.

conceptronic_c54apra2_3

Once this is done, at the bottom we click on Apply, then we go to SYSTEM and TOOLS and click on “SAVE AND REBOOT” and the router will restart. Once it has restarted, if we go to “STATUS” and to “ADSL” we will see that the router synchronizes correctly:

conceptronic_c54apra2_1

And we will already have Internet in our equipment with Pepephone ADSL. We recommend the reading this manual where we teach you to configure the wireless part of the router as well as open ports.

Note: Users are advised to set the DNS settings of the routers to “Automatic”. If we set the DNS to automatic, the DNS that are assigned by default from the network will be used and not the central DNS that could have higher latency due to being further away from the user.
